CA Pub Util Code Section 130665

(a)

Board members or their staff shall not accept any payment made for a speech given, an article published, participation in a program, or any other appearance at a public or private conference, convention, meeting, social event, meal, or similar gathering.

(b)

This section does not prohibit payments for actual personal services rendered in connection with a member’s practice of a bona fide business, trade, or profession.
