Education Code section 2580
(a)
Commencing with the 2026–27 fiscal year, the sum of eight hundred ninety thousand dollars ($890,000) is hereby appropriated each fiscal year from the General Fund to the State Department of Education for allocation to the Los Angeles County Office of Education to maintain the curriculum-embedded performance tasks for science statewide repository developed pursuant to paragraph (3) of subdivision (b) of Section 113 of Chapter 38 of the Statutes of 2024, including all of the following:(1)
Creation and integration of new performance tasks to keep the repository replenished with innovative items to support inquiry-based science instruction and the Next Generation Science standards.(2)
Educator engagement through an educator review panel.(3)
Educator capacity building through engagement with professional development programs, including, to the extent practicable, professional development provided by the entities awarded funding pursuant to Section 53 of Chapter 571 of the Statutes of 2022.(b)
For purposes of making the computations required by Section 8 of Article XVI of the California Constitution, the appropriations made by subdivision (a) shall be deemed to be “General Fund revenues appropriated for school districts,” as defined in subdivision (c) of Section 41202, for the fiscal year in which they are appropriated, and included within the “total allocations to school districts and community college districts from General Fund proceeds of taxes appropriated pursuant to Article XIIIB,” as defined in subdivision (e) of Section 41202, for the fiscal year in which they are appropriated.
