Food and Agricultural Code section 55014

“Rice” means all rough or “paddy” rice or milled rice (Oryza species) produced in or shipped into California, including mochi rice (sweet rice) and rice produced for seed. It does not include wild rice (Zinzania aquatica; Zinzania palustris).
