CA Health & Safety Code Section 130305

The office shall be staffed, at a minimum, with the following personnel:

(a)

Legal counsel to perform activities that may include, but are not limited to, determining the application of federal law pertaining to HIPAA.

(b)

Staff with expertise in the rules promulgated by HIPAA.

(c)

Staff, as necessary, to coordinate and monitor the progress made by all state entities in HIPAA implementation and compliance.
