CA Health & Safety Code Section 122450


(a)

Of the funds appropriated in the 2016 Budget Act for this purpose, the State Department of Public Health shall do all of the following:

(1)

Purchase and distribute hepatitis B vaccine and related materials to local health jurisdictions and community-based organizations to test and vaccinate high-risk adults.

(2)

Purchase hepatitis C test kits and related materials to distribute to local health jurisdictions and community-based testing programs.

(3)

Train nonmedical personnel to perform HCV and HIV testing waived under the federal Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1998 (CLIA) (42 U.S.C. Sec. 263a) in local health jurisdictions and community-based settings.

(4)

Provide technical assistance to local governments and community-based organizations to increase the number of syringe exchange and disposal programs throughout California and the number of jurisdictions in which syringe exchange and disposal programs are authorized.

(b)

The State Department of Public Health may issue grants for the materials and activities provided for in subdivision (a).
