(a)
Effective January 1, 1999, the Sheriff of Humboldt County shall assume the duties and responsibilities of the Humboldt County Marshal and the office of the marshal shall be consolidated with the office of sheriff. Upon the effective date of the consolidation there shall be established within the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department a unit designated as the Court Security Services Division. The Sheriff of Humboldt County shall be responsible for the management and operation of this division, in accordance with this article.
(b)
No provision of this article may be deemed in any manner to limit or otherwise impair the power vested by all other laws in the Superior Court of Humboldt County to secure proper provision of court-related services.
(c)
This section shall remain in effect only until January 1, 2018, and as of that date is repealed unless a later enacted statute, which is enacted before January 1, 2018, deletes or extends that date. The repeal of this section does not affect any right or benefit to which a person was entitled on the date of repeal.
