(a)
It is the intent of the Legislature that, in order to protect against the risk of identity theft, local agencies shall redact social security numbers from records before disclosing them to the public pursuant to this chapter.(b)
Nothing in this chapter shall be construed to require a local agency to disclose a social security number.(c)
This section shall not apply to records maintained by a county recorder.
