CA Gov't Code Section 20138

(a)

Notwithstanding any other provisions of law, the board shall provide by rule for conducting structured preretirement information seminars. The seminars shall be for the benefit of all members who have attained age 45.

(b)

The board shall devise plans for, and in cooperation with appointing powers, design structured seminars to enhance awareness of the features, benefits, and services of this system. Seminars shall include information to assist members to understand the importance of financial and estate planning and how choices and options offered by this system may impact retirement security.
