(a)
The California State University and each community college district shall, and the University of California is requested to, with respect to each campus in their respective jurisdictions that administers a priority enrollment system, grant priority in that system for registration for enrollment to a foster youth or former foster youth.(b)
For purposes of this section, “foster youth” means a person who is currently in foster care, and “former foster youth” means a person who is an emancipated foster youth and who is up to 24 years of age.(c)
This section shall remain in effect only until January 1, 2017, and as of that date is repealed, unless a later enacted statute, that is enacted before January 1, 2017, deletes or extends that date.
